- Water-skiing
-
- by Matt Sanderson
-
- "I'm ready to go!
- Hi! Ho! Silver, a--way!"
- The unconfident boy said, as he prepared to ski.
-
- The boat took off, and he rose up out of the water.
- His grip was tighter than a hawk's butt in a power dive.
- "0h, my God, I'm gonna die",
- The boy thought as he adjusted to the speed.
-
- "Hey! That wasn't too bad.
- Now I hope I don't fall.
- Maybe if I just go a little this way,
- And a little back.
- Hey! That wasn't too bad.
- I'm pretty good!
- Actually, I'm really good!
- I am the best in the world!
- I'm like a king of water skiing."
-
- Then, "BLAM"---
- The boy nailed the water.
- He was unsure if he was hit by a Mac truck
- Or if it was a Freightliner.
- He knew he had trouble breathing.
- He was positive he had broken a few bones.
- At that time,
- He decided that he was never waterskiing again.
- He had come to the conclusion that he was done waterskiing
- FOR LIFE!
- Then as the boat came around,
- He prepared to do it again!

- Simile- " His grip is tighter than a hawk's butt in a power dive."
- comparing: grip on the rope handle to hawk's butt
-
-
- Juxtaposition- "His grip is tighter than a hawk's butt in a power dive."
- grip and hawk's butt are not normally compared.
-
-
- Allusion- "Like a king of water skiing"
- comparison to a king.
-
-
- Onomatopeia- "Blam!"
- to describe the sound of his "wipe-out"
-
-
- Metaphor-"The boy was unsure if he had been hit with a Mac truck or if it was a
- Freightliner." comparing wiping out with being hit with a truck.
-
-
- Irony- At that time he decided that he was never going to water-ski again. Then the boat
- came around, and he got ready to do it again. He was saying that he was never
- going to ski, and the next chance he got to go, he did it again.
